How Do You Get Someone To Do Something? Part I-2 Appreciation

Appreciation and Gratitude 150x150 How Do You Get Someone To Do Something? Part I 2 AppreciationAs I begun to read and study this Dale Carnegie’s lesson about how to get someone to do something, came to my memory some learning, among other topics about general and personal management. For a long time I worked in the Employee quadrant for one of the major mining companies in my country. Wow! The daily deal with the workers, classmates and colleagues, CEO, Supervisors, Mentors, Teachers, their families, (…). I think it has been one of my personal and professional pleasant experiences that I have lived.

Well, now in the Networking and being one of my maxims, “Networking Marketing Business is Marketing through a Network of People”, it takes on a tremendous importance to put into practice what I learned, lived, experienced, either teaching, sharing testimonials, duplicating actions (…) Why? Because People are our “Business” in our personal, human, professional, (…) relationships.

Now, the task from my FREE mentoring group through its forum was and is to apply what it is learned and absorbed from Lesson # 2 – Dale Carnegie’s book. I share with you three personal life experiences:

First

I like to write on social sites, blogs, forums, (…). Nowadays, when I have a “Like”, a “Comment”, a “Point of View” (…), before placing mine, I follow this learned maxim,

  1. Think Good Thoughts
  2. Speak good words
  3. Do good actions

Then I put my comments and “appreciating” his or her visit and time spent on “visit me”. Sometimes my posts and / or articles are “controversial.” I had an interesting reaction from a friend of mine on June 09, 2012. I happened when I put a post-image in my FaCeb00k timeline, where I mentioned a very popular expression used in the English language, that is, FUCK. I appreciated every comment later.

Second

This happened when I interacted via telephone and skypε with my two sons. It was when I shared with them and some friends’s my lesson Part I-1′s three sections. With one of them the chat was very emotional and with my eldest son I felt the frequency and feelings in every word, question and answer that we exchanged. I feel a real appreciation for both and more now that I know their respective personality colors. Really appreciation is working.

Third

This experience was wonderful. I required, as soon as possible, updating a personal document via the Peruvian Consulate-Los Angeles California. Meanwhile I was waiting in this office, the persons in the waiting room was criticizing, condemning and complaining about the service and attention-received. None word of appreciation for the received service.

When the clerk called me, I explain the urgency of my request. I appreciated and thanked for her attention and she told me that the employee in charge will take three or four days in order to have my document updated (smiles). The next day I received phone call from my consulate, telling me that my updated document was ready and I can pick it up.

I felt into me that many people have made possible my request be served promptly, significant action in public state-offices. I’m not the guy who likes to “manipulate” or “flatter” people. I remembered the wise William James’s message, “The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be ‘appreciated’. I do not speak of the ‘wish’ or the ‘desire’ or the ‘longing’ to be appreciated. The ‘craving’ to be appreciated “.

I took some simple presents as a token of gratitude, and I gave each person I “felt” who had enabled this service to me. I believe that these people, my fellow citizens have become Friends of mine by the fact that I appreciated their work. Thousand thanks my new Friends.

“GIVE HONEST AND SINCERE APPRECIATION, AND IMPORTANCY”
